The Stars Talked

4:38 PM 1 Comments
I don't actually believe in horoscopes but sometimes I read it just for fun and curiousity...but..somehow horoscopes give us warnings, encouragement and enlightenment.
Here is my Horoscope for today

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 19)

The Bottom Line
You've gotten a lot achieved recently, but don't get too hung on being productive.

In Detail
You've gotten a lot achieved, recently, and you can choose to continue on this super-productive path -- after all, you've got momentum on your side and you're on a roll! But in the course of a casual conversation today you'll hear something in a friend's voice that lets you know they need some of your time. They miss you -- and you miss them. It's a good idea to step out of the rat race and get back in solid with your personal relationships. Good friends are nothing to take for granted.

*************************************************************************
I know I've been very busy keeping my self busy (I'm not kidding!) lately that I had forgotten and took for granted a lot of things. I got lost track of the date, so as a result I had failed to greet Marion Lu Grazelyn Fabila a happy birthday last August 28. I didn't entertain the people who had PMed me lately even though I know I would like to chat with them. I failed to send my friends e-mails to give them updates or just tell them that they mean a lot to me. I failed to text or call my brother even though I know he misses me and I miss him.

I know..I know!!! I am very sorry guys..It's just that 24 hours is not enough for me to finish everything. I miss you all and I love you so much!! Just always remember that I treasure all of you, a lot!

You are always in my prayers...Please pray for me too...

Eat healthier, not cheaper

12:40 PM 0 Comments
The obesity rate in America has gotten worse every year. According to the report, the five fattest states and their obesity rates are Mississippi (31.7 percent), West Virginia (30.6 percent), Alabama (30.1 percent), Louisiana (29.5 percent) and South Carolina (29.2 percent). The five slimmest states are Colorado (18.4 percent), Hawaii (20.7 percent), Connecticut (20.8 percent), Massachusetts (20.9 percent), and Vermont (21.1 percent).

But wait, it's not just America. According to the news, that the rapid modernization of China and other Asian countries has produced an alarming spike in the rate of obesity and diabetes.

Why is this happening? Is it because junk foods are cheaper than healthy foods?

Junk foods are not just the chips, the soda or the food from McDonald's. Foods that are instant and the foods that can be eaten just by microwaving it are also considered as junks!

I wonder how will the World Health Organization deal with this problem. I read an article before that they will lessen the number of fast foods in America. I think doing that would just create tension.

What do you think would be the best thing to do about this problem?

I doubt that the campaign of Japan against obesity will work here in America even if it sounds good. Under the national law in Japan, companies and local governments must measure the waistline of Japanese people between the ages of 40 and 74 as part of their annual checkups-the waistline should not exceed 33.5 inches for men and 35.4 inches for women. Crazy eh?

How will you answer the survey?

Not an Ordinary Day

7:15 PM 0 Comments
Today, I've been very busy doing a power point presentation about Forensic Science. My mom was assigned to teach that subject even though she is a math teacher. She said that the New York Department of Education is cost cutting their budget. That's why some of the teachers were given assignments that are not actually their field.

My mom can't do anything about it except to prepare and study about Forensic Science for her class. She will be teaching the subject for just one period. Isn't it crazy? My mom needs to study and prepare for it just for one period of class- a 45-minute class!

Even though it will be just for 45 minutes, teachers should study and prepare for their lessons so that they will be effective in teaching. It is also crazy because their performance will still be observed by the Principals and if they get a failing mark they will be kicked out from the system. Isn't it unfair?

That's why today is not an ordinary day for me because I have been studying and researching about Forensic Science together with my mom so that I can make a good visual presentations for the students. It is actually fun because I am also learning while doing my task.

I love this day! It feels like I am preparing for a Case Presentation just like in the Nursing school. I enjoyed reading, highlighting the text books, summarizing and making the power point. Yey me! I am busy today!!

Pray for my mom ok? I pray that everything will be ok. The class will already start next week...soooo...I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Fight and Ran Online

5:58 AM 2 Comments
My brother used to play Runescape- a game of fighting, developing the skills and upgrading the looks of your character and earning golds. But I don't like the game because the graphics is bad, so I introduced a game to him which is better than Runescape but the concept is very much the same.

It is called Ran Online or click here for the USA server. The game is about a clandestine organization known only as the Sacred Financial Group ascended to power, shrouded in myth and mystery, brimming with untold wealth and influence. The Group would found four schools, each one unique in its own way: Sacred Gate, Mystic Peak, Phoenix, and Leonair Campus.

The schools will train the students to become warriors with skills specializing as The Brawler, The Swordsman, The Shaman and The Archer.

The game is like a combination of Runescape and Sims. Download the game! It is really fun!

The Greatest Destroyer

12:27 PM 3 Comments

The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child,

what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.

-Mother Teresa
1910-1997

I had a patient before in the OB ward who had an induced abortion. At the time she was assigned to me, I was instructed to have her in a Complete Bed Rest without Bathroom Privilege. This is because her uterus was still contracting. We were doing our best to save her baby.

The patient told me that she had taken medicines by mouth and per vagina that causes the contraction. She also had an abdominal massage. Those procedures were not successful. So she went to an abortionist and a medicine was injected to her abdomen. The medicine was still meant to make her uterus to contract and expel the fetus. After she was injected with it, her vagina was retracted and was kept open to add stimulus. Then she was sent home. The abortion was still not successful.

At home she tried to do some strenuous work such as scrubbing the floor, carrying her 2 year old daughter and climb the stairs and fell on purpose. Then she had a massive bleeding and she was sent to the hospital.

She was checked. The healthy baby was still there but her uterus continued to contract. So we did our best to save them. My patient, who was a single mother at the age of 20, didn't inform the doctors about the things she had done just to abort the baby.

She told me everything because she thought that I am still a student, a teenager who understands her wrong deeds. But she's wrong because I know I have to tell the team.

The medical team did their best to help her and the baby but I guess the baby had already given up because the mother wasn't doing anything to help save her child. She went to the hospital because she knew she could die due to blood loss but not because her child was in danger.

The baby fought so hard but in the end the abortion was still successful.

I know the issue about abortion is very sensitive. It is something that is so hard to fight for. Some countries such as America for example, is legalizing it. It is like a solution presented for teenage pregnancies and unwanted pregnancies.

I am not against to those who have done it nor judging them that they are bad. It's just so sad that the world seems like to be very open to any solution that is available for them to do to solve their problem.

I am just afraid that because people are becoming very open minded, time will come that they will also agree to massive killing to solve the problem of over population. I am sure a conflict about who shall die will arise after that!

In the other hand, abortion is sometimes done with an acceptable reason. Say for example when the mother is having a dangerous pregnancy, the mother should undergo an operation or the fetus has a serious deformity. But I know you know what I mean and I know you know when to say no to abortion.

Comfort in a Bag

5:19 PM 0 Comments
Whenever I travel, my biggest problem is the discomfort of sitting without having enough blanket to give me warmth. I know I can always ask for another one but it's either because the first blanket stinks or I would be hesitant to bother the not so friendly stewardess in our area. But even though I could have two, I still know that it could not cover my entire body the way I wanted it to be to give me comfort.

Now that problem is already solved! Somebody must have read my thoughts and made the Cabin Cuddler.

Cabin_cuddler

Cabin Cuddler is a tote bag that turns into your own personal hygienic pillow case. It comes with its own inflatable pillow and a travel blanket that covers every inch of your body! Now that's the way I like it!

You don't have to bring extra luggage just to carry your pillows or blanket. It is very handy because it is just light and just measures 12"x10"x2". It is definitely a comfort in a bag!

The Cabin Cuddler is also perfect for camps, out of town travel, outdoor activities, in your office or even at home.

I love it! It is a must have for every family! It is really genius.

Time Travel

10:38 AM 5 Comments
When I was a kid my dad told me that there is really a time machine. He said that it is in a very secret place because the government doesn't want it to be used. He added that when somebody will be caught using it, the police will get them. I know my dad was just making a story to stop my imagination about time travel. And yes, as a kid I was really afraid of the police. They use it to scare me whenever I act like a brat.

But that story didn't stop me to imagine and wonder what if I can travel. When I was kid, I often dream about going to the future. In the future, I will be able to see how and what I've become and then I will go back and tell myself about what to do in the present so that my future will happen or not if it's not what I want. In the contrary, I guess the thought of time travel when I was young was just about the adventure I could get out of it.

When I started my teenage years, the thought of travelling through time changed. During those years, I desperately wanted to turn back the time to change my mistakes. I thought about the decisions I made, actions I've done and words that I had spoken.

For example; during a math quiz bee when I failed to win the first prize because I didn't follow my intuition of how to solve the tie-breaking problem; for eagerly answering the question of my teacher but then my answer was wrong, for helping my pregnant teacher with her heavy stuffs that caused me to fall in a canal and be seen by my schoolmates and my crush, when I failed to be a part of the Top 10 in class because my attention was already focused to my boyfriend (I started young..I know! But I thought I was mature); and the list goes on.

I wished to change those things. I thought I could have a better life if those things didn't happen.
But I was wrong.

When I was still 17, I thought about going to the past and changing it but then as I was imagining I've noticed that each event in my life in the past has something to do to my present or other people's present.

The things that occurred in my past molded my present. The things that I have done in the past which I once regret did something to somebody's life.

I failed the math quiz bee before but somebody won and celebrated. I gave a wrong answer to my teacher but somebody was given the chance to answer it and received a point. I fell in the canal for helping my pregnant teacher but if I didn't do it and fell for her maybe she'll be the one who will fell and have a miscarriage. I failed to be in the top 10 but somebody else made it. I had a boyfriend very young but I learned something about responsibility and knowing your limitations.

As of these days when I start to imagine about time travel, I only get tired. I can't do anything about my past and I don't want to know my future because knowing it might cause me to alter it in my attempt to live "normally" knowing what will happen next.

The best thing to do is to live life in a good way so that your future will be good. Stop acting stupid, stop doing that things that you know is dangerous and value time. Time is a precious gift and our freedom to choose what we want to do in our life is our responsibility.

English: The Unofficial Language of America

7:18 AM 5 Comments
I wasn't able to enroll in college for the fall term because I didn't know I needed to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) first. So I have to wait for the spring term because my schedule for the TOEFL exam is September.

I was taught english even when I was still in kindergarten. We use english as a medium of instruction in the Philippines. In addition, according to the 1987 Constitution, Filipino and English are both the official languages of the Philippines.

Can somebody please tell me what makes english as a foreign language in a country? please..please..please..

I wasn't really confuse until I saw the constitution.

PLUS!!!

The odd thing is that the United States of America has no official language.

oh whatever! Wish me luck for my exam. I have to finish my college soon!

I didn't talk much about the title, did I? lol I know! So don't blab about it..I did it on purpose..But really...english is like unofficial.

Is it maybe because America is like the country of mixed people? It is super mixed that it's like United Nations!

United States of America is now being changed to United Nations.
United Nations the country, not the organization.

lol

btw I already finished my 3rd year in college in the Philippines. So I guess you know how hard it is for me to stop. I love studying. I love my course.

Cutie Booty Cakes

6:59 PM 2 Comments
My mom once told me that the best gifts she received during her baby shower are diapers. It is the most practical and useful gift for moms. But isn't it lame?

No it's not when it is given in an artistic way!

I love the creativity of this mom artist who makes "diaper cakes". The cakes are made of diapers which are perfectly designed and arranged just like one. If only I am near my friend Rona; I would absolutely make one for her or buy.

Here are some of her creative works that I really admire...

The Rosary: A Fashion Statement

4:51 AM 9 Comments
A lot of people today are already wearing the Rosary as part of their get up. I searched for some forums and I found out that they have 2 common opinions about it; 1. It's ok to wear it to express your faith but for fashion, it's not ok., 2. It's a jewerly. Wear it!.

hmm..I can clearly tell which statements are from which group of people. ^_^

For my own opinion, I think wearing the rosary is like mocking the beliefs of Catholics. I also doubt that a true Catholic nor a Christian would disrespect it. I also read a comment that said "why is it ok to wear the Buddhist beads and not the Rosary?"; I think it is because the Buddhist beads are meant to be worn and the Rosary is not.

The Roman Catholic Church states: "Sacred objects, set aside for divine worship by dedication or blessing, are to be treated with reverence. They are not to be made over to secular or inappropriate use, even though they may belong to private persons".

We do have our own ways of showing our faith and love for Jesus and for Catholics, praying the rosary is one. Praying the rosary strengthens our faith and help us to meditate the promises of Christ. And even though some Christians question our ways, I still believe that none of them would wear it like it is just a jewerly. I believe that they respect us. I also strongly believe that the most important thing and the only thing that would erase our differences is our love for Jesus-the Son of God, our Savior.

Anyway, enough of my thoughts! I want to hear from you... ^_^

For Catholics: Will you wear the Rosary for fahion?
Yes, I wear it to show my faith.
Yes, I think it's just a jewerly.
No! It is meant for praying.
No..It doesn't fit my style. lol

For Non-Catholics: Will you wear the Rosary for fashion?
Yes, I don't think it is wrong. I am still a Christian.
Yes. I don't belive in Jesus.
No. I respect the beliefs of Catholics.

Paris Hilton for Vice President

5:41 AM 5 Comments
A while ago, I had a very funny conversation with my dad and I just can't stop laughing about it.

Here it is..

Dad: You know, I read a newspaper in the Philippines that said Paris Hilton will run for Vice President.

Mom: Paris Hilton?!

Me: Paris Hilton?!! *laughs*

Dad: Yes! I read a news. They said Paris Hilton will and she will paint the White House pink!

Mom and I: *laughs* and more *laughs*

Dad: I'm serious!

Mom: Paris Hilton?!

And more laughs while my father insisted that it is true..

PARIS HILTON for VICE PRESIDENT!

Idk if my dad is really serious but he sure looked like he is when he told us! But anyway it really made me laugh because I can't imagine what will America do to her while she campaigns. My dad is a really good storyteller!

Milk for Free

5:02 AM 4 Comments
Last Monday we received a package of soy formula milk for babies from Similac. They gave it to us maybe because they think that my mom is still pregnant. She got a miscarriage last year and she was supposed to deliver this month.

And aside from the milk products, they sent us $5.00 discount coupons.

It might not be a big deal for people living in America but it is for the people in the third world countries like the Philippines.

When I had my Community Health Nursing (CHN) duty, I had visited a family who was using Evaporated Milk mixed with hot water as the milk of their baby. Isn't it sad?

I hope milk companies such as Similac will donate products to public hospitals and the poorest of poor communities in the Philippines.

Sad.. I feel very sad for Filipinos.

World's Craziest in a Crazy Site

2:04 PM 1 Comments
As I was googling (Jo's word) a while ago, I happen to visit a crazy site with the list of world's most of anything.

The site that I am talking about is the http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/. Isn't it crazy? I've been longing to have my own domain that would make people easily remember it and then there you go a site that you would never visit by mistake.

Anyway I would like to give some props for the owner for the list of things that they had probably patiently googled in the world wide web.

Here are some of my favorites of the crazy things (I know some are not that crazy but I just love saying crazy today...I'm a bit high!! Crazy crazy crazy...)

1. So what is the longest alphabet in the world?

This is an easy one, maybe not easy to learn.
Country: Cambodian
Number of letters: 74

Just for the record, Rotokas, the native language of the
Solomon Islands has only 11 letters, and is the shortest alphabet.

In case you are wondering, Chinese use symbols, not letters,
but there are about 5,000 of them. Can you imagine the keyboard?

2. What is the world's longest abbreviation? (Is this even for real?! Try to memorize it and i'll give you a kiss!)

This abbreviation may just explain it, it is the world's longest abbreviation containing 56 letters:

NIIOMTPLABOPARMBETZHELBETRABSBOMONIMONKONOTDTEKHSTROMONT

Meaning: Laboratory for Shuttering, Reinforcement, Concrete and Ferroconcrete Operations for Composite-monolithic and Monolithic Constructions of the Department of Technology of Building Assembly Operations of the Scientific Research Institute of the Organization for Building Mechanization and Technical Aid of the Academy of Building and Architecture of the USSR.

3. What is possibly the longest full name?

Adolph Blaine Charles David Earl Frederick Gerald Hubert Irvin John Kenneth Lloyd Martin Nero Oliver Paul Quincy Randolph Sherman Thomas Uncas Victor William Xerxes Yancy Zeus Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff

4. What is the most expensive schoolbook in the world?

On April 19 2006 a schoolbook, or exercise book if you like, sold for an educated £126,500.00 or about $226,000.00 USD.

So what made the world's most expensive schoolbook so special?
The schoolbook was titled 'My Anthology' and among other things contained a drawing titled 'The Walrus And The Carpenter'.

So, you must be thinking it is the early work of some famous artist , right?
Well, you're almost right. The schoolbook belonged to John Lennon when he was 12 years old and may just provide insight into the song 'I Am The Walrus'.

Most Expensive Schoolbook

5. What is the most expensive Rubik's cube in the world?

This record is no puzzle, the world's most expensive Rubik's cube is the Masterpiece Cube, produced by Diamond Cutters International in 1995.

The Masterpiece Cube is regular size, fully functional and boasts 22.5 karats of amethyst, 34 karats of rubies, and 34 karats of emeralds and the cube is made of 18 karat gold.
The estimated value is about $1,500,000.00 USD.

Now for some Rubik's cube fun facts:
The Rubik's cube was invented in the spring of 1974 by Erno Rubik.
There are 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 (43 quintillion) combinations on the 3x3x3 Rubik's cube.
It took Erno Rubik one month to solve the cube for the first time.
The original colors of the Rubik's cube were white, orange, blue, red, yellow and green.
On January 16 2006 Leyan Lo, a 20-year-old California Institute of Technology student, claimed the new world record by solving the cube in a mere 11.13 seconds.

really really crazy...I wanna have that cube!!

The Dead Man Talked

5:05 PM 3 Comments
The book 90 Minutes in Heaven is a true story about Don Piper who died for 90 minutes, went to heaven and returned to Earth. At first I thought the book is more about the description of heaven, but it isn't and that made the book even better to read.
Although I personally would like to know what heaven is like but I just feel that nobody can perfectly describe it and Don Piper felt the same too.

90 Minutes in Heaven is a story of a Pastor who ministers but couldn't practice some of his teachings. It is a story of proofs on how prayer and faith can cure us, can heal us and help us. The book tells us to trust God and reflect for the lesson that He wanted to teach us during the times that we are down.

Don Piper himself questioned God at the beginning of his sufferings. He asked Him why would He let him experience the joy and peace in heaven and then bring him back to Earth with the worst kind of pain that is beyond the pain scale of 10. He kept on begging for God to take Him back and refused to accept his mission on Earth. But God is just great that He didn't gave up sending him people as an intrument for him to know what God is teaching him and telling him to do.

A review from Barnes and Noble was written that says the book is not what it is all about and that you can read the 90 minutes experience of Don Piper in just 15 minutes.

That's true, you can read the experience for 15 minutes and I understand why the story about his experience is just that short. Heaven should not be described by details, it is something we should try to reach and experience personally. The book is not just about the heaven. It is about how the 90 minutes experience changed the life of the people- believer and non-believer (who became a believer eventually).

I personally recommend this book because it is very inspiring. It makes us realize that no matter how good a person is, that person will never be perfect. It is a book that tells us that the way of God is hard to accept but is easier if we only trust Him. It will make us realize that no matter who and where we are, God has a purpose for that.

Read the book. It is a must read!

"All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts use in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.'

Our Folks Said The Funniest Things

10:56 AM 3 Comments
Before the Phillipines was invaded by the Spaniards, Filipinos worship trees, animals or the nature itself. Because of this, beliefs were created and practiced to show respect to their gods in order for them to have good luck and blessings. These superstitious beliefs were passed on from generation to generation. Although we now live in a modern era some of the beliefs are still being practice by Filipinos especially the ones who lives in the province.

Our folks beliefs are really crazy. Have fun reading the things that our folks believed. The primary source of this collection is Neni Sta. Romana-Cruz's Don't Take A Bath on a Friday: Philippine Superstitions and Folk Beliefs.

1. If you want to know what your lifetime partner will look like, wake up in the middle of the night and take a look at yourself in the mirror while holding a lighted candle. At first, the image in the mirror will appear to be a skeleton. After five minutes, you will see a full view of the person you will marry .

2. During the wedding ceremony a bride must step on her husband's foot in order to that both of them will agree on things that they will undertake, and so that her husband will not be cruel to her.

3. It is bad luck for two siblings to be married within the same year. In order to remedy the situation, the sibling who marries later in the year should pass through the backstairs of the church on the day of the wedding.

4. Removing plates from the table while an unmarried woman is still eating will keep her single all her life.

5. If a pregnant woman wants to avoid the unpleasant symptoms of pregnancy, she should step over her husband while he is sleeping and all of her symptoms will be transferred to him.

6. When a baby lies on her stomach for the first time, place a pencil, paper, and a book under her so that she will be intelligent.

7. When a woman is about to give birth, place a lighted candle under her bed so that any witches passing by may be seen.

8. After studying at night, place the book you've been studying under your pillow, and you will retain what you have read.

9. Don't comb your hair at night, lest you become bald, orphaned, or widowed. But if you must comb at night, bite the tip of the comb first.

10. At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, eat twelve grapes which represent the twelve months of the year. This will ensure money and good luck throughout the year.

11. If you dream that one of your teeth is being pulled out, this means that a family member will die.

12. If a spoon falls during a meal, you will be visited by a woman. If it is a fork, a man will be visiting, while if it is a teaspoon, it will be a child.

13. If you choke briefly at mealtime, someone far away remembers you, or is talking about you. To find out who that person could be, immediately ask for any number from the people who are eating with you. The number that will match a letter in the alphabet will be the first letter of the person's name who knows you and is the one who might have remembered you.

14. When a stranger or distant relative arrives in your home, serve him water first so that he brings you only good news.

15. Never sweep the floor at night, or you will lose all your wealth.

A Glimpse of A Child Called "It"

7:36 AM 3 Comments
This autobiographical story is about the most severe child abuse cases in California history. It relates how David Pelzer was beaten and starved by his mentally and emotionally unstable alcoholic mother. He was nearly killed by starvation, poisoning and a stabbing.

Dave as if lived with demons from 4-12 years old. The story is just too cruel to be true. It is worst than Sybil. It may serve as strength and inspiration for some but for me the story is disturbing.

I wonder how come the medical team, the neighbors, the teachers and most especially his father didn't do anything about it.

The medical team, such as nurses, are taught how to identify cases of abuse. I wonder how come they didn't notice something is wrong with the child.

The neighbors and the teachers should have notice that Dave was being abused by his mother by the way he acts and his clothes.

I wonder how come his father didn't do anything while his mother didn't feed him for 10 days. I wonder how come it was ok for his father that his mother feed him with some vomitted foods scooped from the toilet.

Most of all, I wonder how come Dave didn't say anything when his mother forced him to eat his brother's shit while she put his face in the soiled diaper, when his mother "accidentally" stabbed him, and when his mother forced him to stay in the tub, naked with frozen water.

It is a crazy story. It is a crazy book. It is so cruel that questions has been raised about it's authenticity. It became a controversy because of the statements of his brother, Stephen Pelzer, and grandmother, Ruth Cole against his stories.

A Brother's Journey, on the other hand is a book written by Richard Pelzer who supported the story of abuse.

The good thing despite of the controversy about the book is the hope it gave for its readers. It gives an inspiration to other people that despite of all the traumatic events in Dave Pelzer's life he still manage to survive and have a good life. It is a story that tells us that after a dark night, morning will still come.

Read it so you will understand what I am saying but it is really a disturbing story.

United We Stand

10:19 AM 2 Comments
Last month we went to Washington DC and I totally forgot to share the pictures in this blog. Just the same as anybody else, the main place that I was eager to visit is the White House but I was disappointed when I finally saw. It is just a plain white building. Is it just me or is it because I am not American by heart that's why I didn't get to appreciate it? Anyway I thank God for giving me the chance to be in a place that a lot of Filipinos wanted to visit.

Those are just some of the pictures and I am sure you don't want me to upload all of it here. lol

Walk Away from Alzheimer's

7:27 AM 0 Comments
During one of my exposures in the hospital a patient who has an Alzheimer's Disease was assigned to me. Taking care of the patient requires a lot of patience since she couldn't cooperate with me anymore. She was having tantrums most of the time. She was suffering from memory loss which I think is the reason why she can't even say the right words to express her thoughts.
Patients who has Alzheimer's forgets how to perform even simple things and most can't even distinguish tastes. The hardest part about this disease for me is the fact that someone you love will be able to forget you. It is a heart breaking disease and I am really afraid any of my loved ones will manifest it.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, every 71 seconds someone is being diagnosed with this disease. It is also the 6th leading cause of death in the US.
Anyone can have the Alzheimer's Disease. That is why I encourage everyone to support the Alzheimer's Memory Walk.

It is a way for you to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. It is very important for us to spread the word since this disease requires a special kind of treatment and a lot of research. The causes of it still remains to be a theory; without knowing the real cause we can never have the right treatment to cure it.

Walk with a cause. Walk away from Alzheimer's. Let's do our best to live a world without Alzheimers.

Fly Me to the Moon

Ola! I just got home from Manhattan. My mother, my brother and I went to the theater to watch the premiere of the first computer generated feature film in real 3D-Fly Me To The Moon.

The movie is about the 3 houseflies who went with the Apollo 11 to the moon. The story is cute and is definitely perfect for kids. I love the 3D effect of the film. The effect allows you to experience flying with the flies and whenever the characters talk to each other they sometimes actually face the viewers as if they were talking to us.

The film sometimes makes me laugh but I honestly felt bored at first. In the contrary, I heard the kids giggled most of the time. They cheered in some of the scenes. It is really entertaining. It makes me wanna go to the moon too! Let your kids watch this. I'm sure they will love it!

Being flawless is the key to Happiness?

7:05 AM 2 Comments
Last night, when I went to bed a thought happened to bother me until I fell asleep. I thought what if God had created someone perfectly, in human standards, without any flaws. Someone who has the perfect beauty and body that fits to everyone's taste, the perfect trait that everyone adores, the money, the needs and wants that everyone longs to have. That would be great, isn't it?

But then when I started to put my self into that someone's shoes, I came to realize that my life wouldn't be exciting to live if that will happen. The world of flawless wouldn't make me happy because I couldn't experience the happiness of achieving something.

Oh wait, that doesn't count as a world of flawless anymore because something is missing.

Then I started to reflect about my life; who I am in this world, what makes me happy, what makes me sad, what others have that I don't and what I have that others don't have.

I don't have the talent, skills or beauty that makes other people famous but I can make other people laugh and learn from me just like them. I can buy my needs and some of my wants but only in a lesser amount compared to the rich and famous but I believe we can feel the same happiness out of those things. I get hurt, I feel sad, embarrass, depress and lonely just like other people. I am not known for being sexy or pretty but someone admires me and thinks I am the most compared to beauty queens.

In other words, we live in a world with flaws. Just like the rich and the famous people, we still have things that we dream to have and achieve.

Being flawless is NOT the key to happiness. It is by being satisfied of what you have and by keeping the courage and hope to achieve what you want without feeling sorry that you still don't have it.

Life is like climbing the stairs, you achieve to be on top that's why you step forward. Just don't compare your self to the people ahead of you, instead, look at the people behind you.

Afterall there is always something that is stored in every step that could make us feel happy. If and only if we can learn how to be satisfied and to appreciate little things.

My Mom, My Bestfriend

2:46 PM 0 Comments

No she's not my sister. She's my mother.

A lot of times people had mistaken us as sisters, maybe it's because she looks young and I look old or maybe people can see how close our spirit is.

I am very thankful that my parents had become the perfect model for me as I was growing up. I am very blessed to have a close relationship with them. But my mother took care of me most of my childhood days because my dad is a soldier. And eventhough she got her own problems, like missing and worrying about my dad, I am proud to say that there is no day that she stopped being a mother.

As a kid, I admit that there were times when I thought that she is my enemy. Those were the days when I thought that friends are the one who agrees with you all the time. But now I understand why she says no and what are my responsibilities when she will say yes.

She taught me a lot and mold me to become who I am today. The rules, my freedom, her words, her experiences and her love are the things that helped me become a better person.

She's not only my mother. She's also my bestfriend.

Job well done mom! Thank you for the values and the things you taught me.

Happy Mothers' Day! nah kidding!
