Walk Away from Alzheimer's

During one of my exposures in the hospital a patient who has an Alzheimer's Disease was assigned to me. Taking care of the patient requires a lot of patience since she couldn't cooperate with me anymore. She was having tantrums most of the time. She was suffering from memory loss which I think is the reason why she can't even say the right words to express her thoughts.
Patients who has Alzheimer's forgets how to perform even simple things and most can't even distinguish tastes. The hardest part about this disease for me is the fact that someone you love will be able to forget you. It is a heart breaking disease and I am really afraid any of my loved ones will manifest it.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, every 71 seconds someone is being diagnosed with this disease. It is also the 6th leading cause of death in the US.
Anyone can have the Alzheimer's Disease. That is why I encourage everyone to support the Alzheimer's Memory Walk.

It is a way for you to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. It is very important for us to spread the word since this disease requires a special kind of treatment and a lot of research. The causes of it still remains to be a theory; without knowing the real cause we can never have the right treatment to cure it.

Walk with a cause. Walk away from Alzheimer's. Let's do our best to live a world without Alzheimers.
