The Unfair World in Our Eyes

"Everything comes from the Lord success and failure,

poverty and wealth, life and death.

Wisdom, understanding, knowledge of the Law, love,

and the doing of good deeds-all these comes from the Lord."

-Sirach 11:14-15

People always wonder that if God is really good why would some people experience failure and poverty and some experience wealth and success.

I believe that God has planned something from us and has a perfect reason for us to be in that situation. I know it is hard to accept that because things are not just equal in our eyes. We doubt His love for us because we don't have the things that we wanted and others have it. But what if the things that you had longed for are already in your hands? Most of us would first thank God and the next day we would start to desire other things that we don't have. People don't have contentment.

Now let us put our selves in the shoes of the "fortunate" people. They are also longing for a lot of things. They are also desiring for things that they don't have. There are a lot of things that we cannot possess and of course what we don't have is often what we wanted.

We will never be happy if we don't start to appreciate and enjoy the things that we have. We will never be contented if we let envy control us. We will never see God's grace if we are busy feeling bad.

"ok ok ok..I get the being contented part..but why am I poor and they are rich..why are the people in Africa experiencing poverty? Isn't it unfair?" , you asked.

I believe that it is because we are labelling it to describe the differences that we can see using our eyes. I believe that in God's eyes there is no such a description. We are equal. I also believe that God wanted us to live the life that is being presented to us and make the most out of it. We will experience problems and struggles no matter which group of the level of society we belong.

Remember:

"Don't be jealous of what sinners achieve; just stick to your own work, and trust the Lord. It is very easy for the Lord to make a poor person suddenly rich."

-Sirach 11:21

"Don't be concerned about what you need, or what success the future holds for you. On the other hand, don't think that you have everything you need or that nothing can go wrong for you in the future."

-Sirach 11:23-24

"So then, don't think of anyone's life as happy until it is over, because all the evidence is not in until the person is dead."

- Sirach 11:28

Enjoy your life. Love your life, make the most out of it and work so that God can help you.
